How To Find An Available NEXUS Appointment In Canada

Question: My closest enrollment center doesn’t have any available appointments. What do I do?

Answer: The process of scheduling your NEXUS Canada interview can be difficult if there are suitable appointments available. Easy NEXUS Canada can help you find the most suitable appointment for you. We monitor the availability of the enrollment center of your choice and notify you of any openings. We charge a $75 fee, payable via PayPal, for our service.

Easy NEXUS Canada Appointment Scheduling Service

If you choose to schedule your NEXUS interview yourself and you can’t find any available appointments at your nearest NEXUS Enrollment Center there are a few things you can do.

Firstly, send an email or call your desired enrollment center and ask about availability. It can take time for the enrollment center to update their calendar and availability online so it is best to contact them directly.

Secondly, check whether the NEXUS Enrollment Center of your choice accept walk-ins without appointment. Make sure to call in advance to see whether they can squeeze you in that day.

If the enrollment center does not accommodate walk-ins keep checking your Trusted Traveler account as often as possible. Appointments are canceled or missed all the time which will open up availability at your center. Please note, there are no cancellation lists so you have to keep checking the availability of the center, you will not receive notifications from the enrollment center itself.

Lastly, if none of the above applies for your situation you will have to look at other NEXUS Enrollment Centers, sometimes even in different states. To find a list of NEXUS Canada Enrollment Centers follow the link below.

NEXUS Canada Application Denied

Question: My NEXUS application has been denied. What can I do?

Answer: If your NEXUS Canada application was denied you can appeal the decision. First off, log into your Trusted Traveler profile and check your notification inbox. You should have received a denial / disapproval letter stating the reason(s) behind your disapproval.

You have two options to appeal the decision.

The first option is to send an email to: cbpvc@cbp.dhs.gov

The second option is to write a letter to the CBP Trusted Traveler Ombudsman at:

US Customs and Border Protection
P.O. Box 946
Williston, VT 05495
Attn: CBP Ombudsman

Appeal / reconsideration requests to the Ombudsman should be written in English and contain supporting information that can establish that the denial was based on inaccurate information. Nevertheless, as the NEXUS Canada program has strict criteria for participation, having a criminal record and / or past violation of CBP regulations may affect your eligibility for participation in the NEXUS program.

You must also include the date of denial, the denial reason(s) stated in the letter, your PASSID number, full name, date of birth and address.

If your NEXUS Canada membership was denied due to a criminal record, incident or arrest please also include a clear summary elaborating the incident, court documentation (even if expunged) and further information / documentation that may affect the Ombudsman’s decision.

Please be advised that the response from the Ombudsman may take up to several months.

Do not reapply for your NEXUS Canada card until you receive a direct reply from CBP.

PR Card Information For NEXUS Application

Question: What does it mean on the NEXUS application form ‘lawful resident’? What is a ‘PR number’? I have provided passport information but not sure about PR Information.

Answer: If you hold a Canadian passport or citizenship certificate, you should leave this section blank as it is not relevant to you.

Permanent residents are not citizens of Canada but have been permanent resident status because they live permanently in Canada, with a passport from another country.

People who are in Canada on a temporary basis (e.g. students or workers on temporary contracts) are not permanent residents and cannot apply for permanent resident status.

Permanent residents hold a permanent resident (PR) card, which contains a PR number. This number is to be used on the NEXUS Canada application form. The PR number is located on the back of your PR card on the top left-hand corner. The PR starts with two letters followed by ten numbers e.g. MA0406123455 or two letters followed by seven numbers e.g. RA1203465.

NEXUS PASSID Not Assigned

Question: I am waiting for a PASSID to move forward with my NEXUS application

Answer:  Your PASSID is a 9-digit number that will act as your NEXUS membership number and your Known Traveler Number if you intend to use the United States TSA Precheck lanes.

Your PASSID is usually assigned as soon as you apply for NEXUS Canada, however many NEXUS applicants do not get an automatic PASSID. This does not mean there is a problem with your account! It can take up to 7 days for your PASSID to be assigned – much depends on the volume of NEXUS applications received by the government at the time that you apply.

You should keep checking your NEXUS account via login.gov and https://ttp.cbp.dhs.gov/. Once you have your PASSID, you need to make a note of it and keep it in a safe place. Once you receive a NEXUS card, your PASSID will appear on the back of your card in the top left-hand corner.

How To Contact NEXUS Canada

Question: I need a phone number to speak with someone about my Canada NEXUS application.

Answer: It is not possible to call up to discuss an individual Canada NEXUS application. The government receives thousands of NEXUS card applications a day and does not operate a call center. To contact the government directly about your NEXUS Canada application, you can email your question at  https://help.cbp.gov/app/ask

If you applied through a third-party application processing provider like Easy NEXUS Canada, it is unlikely that they will provide a call center facility. The best way to contact a third-party provider is to email them with your questions. You can find the email address by searching your inbox for ‘NEXUS application’. This will give you the email address of the service that you used.
